Nirvana: In Utero
Nirvana: In Utero
Label: DGC
Year: 1993
Bleach is too harsh, Nevermind is too polished and In Utero is just right. The guitar tone on “Scentless Apprentice” was gold in 1993. The riff on “Heart-Shaped Box” was currency in 1993. The subject matter of “Rape Me” was misunderstood in 1993. “Dumb” is Kurt Cobain dancing in the back of a pickup on I-5 with a butt in his mouth in 1993 and Dave Grohl never sounded better than he did in 1993. That “Radio Friendly Unit Shifter” & “Tourette’s” could be on a major label screamed 1993 and “All Apologies” is timeless. Nirvana had a year for the ages in 1993 and this was all before November 18th.
