Led Zeppelin: Led Zeppelin II
Label: Atlantic
Year: 1969
As soon as “Whole Lotta Love” drops from space it’s obvious Led Zeppelin have made a quantum leap as a band in the 9 months between albums I to II as vocal dynamics, guitar riffs, bass riffs and John Bonham have seemingly maxed out (seemingly). Jimmy Page was a great acoustic player, goes the other way on “Heartbreaker” and “Ramble On” demonstrates the Zep’s perfect time, moving in unison to the beat of the same drummer. It’s been said that Led Zeppelin II is the precursor to heavy metal, but don’t hold that against them.
