The Rolling Stones: Some Girls
The Rolling Stones: Some Girls
Label: Rolling Stones Records
Year: 1978
“Miss You” which opens Some Girls, the Stones 13th album, proves what the 12 others that preceded it did - Charlie Watts was really good and as a footnote the organ of Ian MacLagen and sax of Mel Collins are essential to the track. “When the Whip Comes Down” is not essential, “Just My Imagination (Running Away with Me)” is out of place, the title cut is waaaaaay too much Mick, “Lies” is weak, “Far Away Eyes” is fucking stupid (although Woody is great) and “Respectable” falls flat. Heading into the Some Girls home stretch, “Before They Make Me Run” is vintage Keith, “Beast of Burden” is vintage Stones, “Shattered” makes sense and Charlie Is My Darling.
