Yellowjackets: Four Corners
Yellowjackets: Four Corners
Label: MCA
Year: 1987
It’s 1987 and with their fifth album Yellowjackets have reached the Four Corners. New addition Will Kennedy on drums and founding bassist Jimmy Haislip make their presence known on the first cut. Take out the saxophone and “Wildlife” includes many things from “Live To Tell” to Miami Vice to what was under Paul Simon’s hat. The views could be better on “Sightseeing” and “Open Road” could be more expansive but credit the Jackets for giving the ear more options than just the sax. “Mile High” doesn’t do that “Past Ports” follows, next is “Postcards”, “Room With A View” backs it up and “Geneva” closes. Yellowjackets will get to their destination, I’m sure of it as they’ve released a ton of records since they were at Four Corners.
